Unite and Create -
Our purpose at the Dallas Artisan Alliance is
for Dallas-area artisans and crafters to have a pool of resources.
To meet people like ourselves, to get tips and techniques, to
learn more through each other’s experience, to join forces
to increase our exposure and influence, and to make the world
better through our lives and talents.
Guidelines:
Becoming a member of the Dallas Artisan Alliance does not require
an application. We accept people who enjoy crafting, who are
artists or musicians, who own successful (or unsuccessful) online
businesses, who sell their wares occasionally, and who do not
offer their items for sale. Membership is open to anyone who
would like to be a part of the group and who feels they can
contribute in some way.
To become a member, join the yahoo group.
After joining, please make an introductory post
including some information about yourself, what you like to
do, and pictures or examples of your work if you’d like.
We will have a business meeting every 6 weeks.
We will schedule these meetings as far in advance as possible,
so that we can schedule to accommodate everyone. Understandably,
not everyone will be able to attend every business meeting.
In this case, please notify Emily (emily@webpixies.com) if
you will not be able to attend so that we can take notes and
send you pertinent information. It’s important that everyone
who possibly can does attend these meetings in case important
decisions are made.
Between business meetings we will have outings.
Outings are for fun, for volunteer work, or for learning. We
will have outings scheduled by Erin, but anyone in the Alliance
can suggest an outing by emailing Erin about it. Any event that
we can learn something from, or that you think the Alliance
would enjoy, can be an outing.
Occasionally we will undertake volunteer projects.
The Dallas Artisan Alliance will never ask for membership fees.
If we need funds, we will have a fundraiser of some sort. Volunteer
projects will be service-oriented, or will use donated supplies.
Long term, we would like to participate in or
possibly run events such as art exhibits, fashion shows, festivals,
and parties. We ask only that if you volunteer to head up a
facet of such an event that you follow through.
Leadership:
Emily is the president of the Dallas Artisan Alliance. --- is
the vice-president. Occasionally, temporary positions will open
as needed. Everyone is welcome to volunteer for these positions.
In cases where temporary leaders make decisions, they can choose
to open the decision as a poll in the yahoo group, or to discuss
it with Emily and other leaders to come up with a solution.
In
closing:
This group is accepting of everyone who wishes to apply. Abuse
or disrespect of any member will not be tolerated, and is the
only grounds for dismissal from the Alliance. Let’s keep
it friendly, learn lots, have fun, and make a difference!
